Why the Red Lip Edition Had to Happen

Every collection has a moment when it reveals what it wants to become.

For Awkward Paper Dolls, that moment arrived in red.

The Symbol

To honor my fiftieth year, I created fifty new pieces—each one carrying the same unmistakable mark:

the red lip.

It was never just a visual decision.

Red has always carried its own language.

It can mean power.
It can mean softness.
It can mean survival.
It can mean visibility.

For this collection, it became all four.

The Meaning of Red

The red lips transformed each figure into a quiet declaration:
a reminder that even the softest presence can still be undeniable.

These are the only Awkward Paper Dolls in the series that will ever wear red lips.

They belong to a very specific moment in my life.

A threshold year.
A turning point.
A chapter I wanted to honor with the most striking accent color.

Sometimes an artist does not choose the symbol.

Sometimes the symbol chooses the moment.

And this time, it chose red.
